Drawing on her background in positive psychology, she centers each client’s strengths and values while creating a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship. She uses evidence-based methods flexibly, tailoring treatment to meet each client where they are and support them in working toward their individual goals.
Dr. Carlon specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and related “third wave” approaches, including mindfulness-based treatments, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Her clinical training encompasses evidence-based treatment for alcohol/substance use, anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, sleep difficulties, and challenges with emotion regulation and interpersonal functioning.
In addition to providing therapy, Dr. Carlon is a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation in the School of Public Health at Brown University. Her research focuses on chronic health problems related to substance and alcohol use, such as liver disease and HIV, with an emphasis on developing strengths-based approaches to care that are informed by the needs of the communities they serve. Dr. Carlon is currently completing the requirements for clinical licensure and receives clinical supervision from Dr. Tessa Nalven.
Outside of work, Hannah values spending time with her family and friends, practicing yoga, cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors.
